UTC Time Stamp

There are many many seen (and unseen) components that make WPESignature UETA/ESIGN/GDPR compliant. Among these many things is the UTC time stamp.

A question we often receive is: “The time and date is not accurate. How can I change this?”

UTC or GTM is ‘World Time’ that we use to solve this mystery! We decided for consistency and accuracy between documents, it would be best to implement UTC time instead of the local time zone.

Example: If an admin user is in California and their signer is in Japan, the local time would differ for both the signer and the admin user. By using UTC time, it is extremely clear (in court) as to what time and date the document was signed.

And there you have it! We’ve implemented a clear, consistent way to display time on your documents for ALL of your signers around the world. 🌎
